On Thursday, hundreds of Yemeni-American bodega owners went on strike in New York to protest President Donald Trump's travel ban [1] that affects citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries. One of those countries is Yemen, and Reuters reports that more than 1,000 store owners shut their shops [2] to demonstrate at Brooklyn Borough Hall; this aerial shot was taken while the demonstrators observed afternoon prayer.

Sam Kestenbaum [5], a journalist at Forward, shared the powerful image. It's particularly striking because, as similar videos of activists praying at airports have also demonstrated [6], it shows allies surrounding them. Below is a video of the prayer shared by Jennie Matthew [7] of the AFP news agency.

As demonstrations against Trump's ban continue across the country, it's moments like these that show the value of peaceful protest and how different religions should be celebrated.
