Update: The man holding the sign in the photo has identified himself. In a now-viral Facebook post [2], Justin Normand said he was the Texan holding the "You Belong" sign. In the post, he also provided an explanation as to why he decided to stand in front of the mosque with the encouraging message. "This was about binding up the wounded," Normand said, "about showing compassion and empathy for the hurting and fearful among us." Read his entire Facebook post.

Original Story: A photo of a man in Dallas holding a sign outside a mosque is going viral for all the right reasons. Reddit user Kolmias [3] uploaded a picture of the Texan's sign and it's since gone viral, both on Reddit [4] and Twitter [5].

The sign reads, "You belong. Stay Strong. Stay Blessed. We are one America." Though the cowboy-clad man is unidentified, his message is particularly poignant, given the mosque's history. Reddit user Superfahd [6] identified the mosque as the Islamic Center of Irving and pointed out that the mosque was the site of a hateful protest less than a year ago.

According to Dallas News [7], about a dozen armed protesters stood outside the Islamic Center of Irving with messages calling for an end to the "Islamization of America" in November 2015.

Given that news and the recent spike in hate crimes reported across the nation after Donald Trump's victory, this man's sign is especially inspiring.

We've reached out to the Reddit user [8] who posted the photo for more information on the man holding the sign.
