2 Women Were Ordered Out of Victoria's Secret For an Infuriating Reason

Kimberly Houzah, a 27-year-old nurse from Oxford, AL, says she was just trying to shop at Victoria's Secret in Quintard Mall when she found herself and another black women being ordered out of the store. Kimberly recorded the entire troubling ordeal in a Facebook Live video, which now has over 640,000 views and 12,000 comments. In the 11-minute recording, Kimberly says she was treated unfairly after another woman of color was caught stealing from the store. "Because another black female gets caught stealing, me and the other black female, we have to be affiliated, so we're all put out," she says in the video below.

"I'm so upset right now. I could literally cry," Kimberly expressed three minutes into the live stream before leaving the store. "Folks done made it OK to be publicly racist," she says through tears. "I would never, ever step a foot back in that store."

Kimberly vowed to call Victoria Secret's corporate store to report a woman named Faith, the store's manager at the time, for ordering her to leave without merit. "I know everybody's not racist," Kimberly clarified in the video, but she also noted how there was no apparent reason she was asked to leave the store besides being racially profiled.

"If people are never held accountable for their actions . . . this will continue. They're going to think it's OK."

After returning to the store on Thursday, Dec. 8, with a group of supporters, Kimberly was offered an apology by the store's manager, who agreed Kimberly and the other black woman (whom Kimberly did not know) were unjustly removed. Victoria's Secret also released a statement on its Facebook page, writing: "We take the experience of our customer at the Quintard Mall very seriously and have reached out to her directly to express our sincere apology."

The company also admits that the incident should have never occurred. "The store associate involved in this matter is no longer employed with the company," the statement reads. "Victoria's Secret is adamant that all customers regardless of race be treated with dignity and respect at all times."

Kimberly says although she never expected to receive widespread attention from her video, she's glad that she spoke out and stood up for herself because "if people are never held accountable for their actions . . . this will continue. They're going to think it's OK."
