The Women's March on Washington [1] was the largest demonstration in American history [2], and it was abundant with inspiring moments — one of which was a flash performance organized by a Los Angeles-based singer. It's been a while since we've encountered a flash mob this compelling, and we predict singer MILCK's new song, "Quiet," is about to be a rallying anthem.

The vocalist was planning to attend the Women's March in DC, but according to NPR [3], she wanted to plan something "memorable" for the protest. Calling on her fellow musicians across the country, MILCK organized and rehearsed with women via Skype to perform the song a cappella during the march. They had never performed the song together until the march.

What makes the performance so moving are the song's lyrics. "I can't keep quiet, a one-woman riot," MILCK and the accompanying women declare. In an official statement, MILCK said she wrote the song to reconcile her past struggle with physical and sexual abuse.

"In this time of fear, propaganda and discrimination, it is critical for our individual and collective voices to be heard," the statement reads. "With this song, I'm saying I am NOT the woman who is going to stay quiet where there are figures who promote oppression."

MILK also launched an eponymous campaign for the project [4], #ICantKeepQuiet, encouraging people "who have braved extraordinary distances to speak up, and speak out."

Alma Har'el, a director, captured one of the renditions and posted the video [5] on social media, where it has already been shared nearly 10 million times. Suffice to say, you might be hearing a lot more of this tune (and a lot less silence) over the next four years.
