Update: The Women's March released a statement confirming the activists' arrest. "13 organizers and supporters of the Women's March were arrested today by the New York City Police Department in an act of civil disobedience outside Trump International Hotel and Towers in Columbus Circle," the release read.

At least one of the Women's March organizers, Carmen Perez, has been released according to her Twitter [1]. Though Perez tweeted that she was out of jail, she said other women who had been arrested remained.

When the organizers of the widespread movement took to the streets of New York City wearing all red [13] to march, they used social media [14] to share their whereabouts for anyone interested in joining their protest. Their first stop? Trump's hotel, naturally.

But apparently officers weren't pleased with the wave of red that was blocking traffic, as a handful of the protesters were arrested, including march organizers Linda Sarsour and Tamika Mallory.

Despite their arrests, the women present continued to rally together to show they're not planning to back down in the face of opposition.

The Women's March organizers released an official statement that partly explained what went down. "Today, the national leaders of the Women's March on Washington gathered with allies and those participating in the day's actions for a show of solidarity and revolutionary love," they wrote. "After a peaceful protest in New York City in honor of A Day Without a Woman, 10 organizers were arrested by the New York City Police Department in an act of civil disobedience."
