This Video of Donald Trump Singing at the 2005 Emmys Will Make You Cringe Till It Hurts

With the Emmy Awards upon us, we figure it's an appropriate time to resurface this cringe-worthy moment from the event in 2005, when Donald Trump took the stage to perform a rendition of the Green Acres theme song. The current POTUS donned overalls, a straw hat, and yes, a pitchfork and stood next to Megan Mullally, who portrayed her Will & Grace character, Karen, to perform the song.

During a time when the country was so enamored with American Idol, producers of the Emmys created "Emmy Idol" for the 2005 awards. Celebrities paired up and performed songs from classic TV shows while the audience voted on the winner. So Trump didn't bounce on stage at the Emmys like an awkward dad trying to learn the "Cha Cha Slide" at a bar mitzvah for no reason . . . he did it for a victory.

It may have been a simpler time then, when our POTUS was simply attending the Emmys for The Apprentice, but his trophy-obsessed personality was so clearly the same. Last year, Mullally appeared on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, where she told the host about Trump's reaction to winning "Emmy Idol."

"He really wanted to win because people were calling in to vote," she explained. "We won it . . . So the next day, I was in my Will & Grace dressing room and the phone rang and it was Donald Trump. And he said, 'You know what? We really needed to win that thing and we did. And you were a big part of that, so I just wanted to say that we really needed to win it, and not only did we win it, but I hear we killed them. It was a landslide.'"

One YouTube commenter put it best: "Ladies and gentlemen, the president of the United States of America."
