CNN Equality Town Hall Cold Open (2019)

From Colin Jost's hilariously wooden demeanor as Pete Buttigieg to Woody Harrelson's old-fashioned mannerisms as Joe Biden, this take on the CNN Equality Town Hall nails the quirks of the 2020 democratic candidates. The best part by far is Kate McKinnon epically transforming from Liz Warren into drag queen Sasha Velour . . . with an introduction from Billy Porter.

Midterm Ad (2018)

After two years of the Trump administration, Democrats were ready for a "blue wave" in 2018. But as this ad for the 2018 midterm election shows, they were rather cautiously optimistic, evidenced by Kate McKinnon's primal anxiety shriek that broke a glass doors and windows.

Election Week Cold Open (2016)

Right after the rage fire that was the 2016 election, McKinnon opened SNL with a morose and tasteful rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" on the piano as Hillary Clinton. Depending on how you feel about the results of the election, it was a time of mourning for many. As Clinton, McKinnon reassured the audience, "I'm not giving up, and neither should you." Cue ALL of the tears, please.

Election Night (2016)

This smart and all-too-real sketch with Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle aired the Saturday right after the 2016 election. It didn't so much influence the 2016 election as much as it provided a postmortem of blind spots in the Democratic Party, particularly those of race in American history.

Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton Third Debate Cold Open (2016)

Just weeks before the 2016 election, SNL opened with this brilliant sketch about the third presidential debate with Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon duking it out as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Other than a few zingers about birth control and bingo, McKinnon plays up Clinton as a grounded candidate, one who was confident in her resume and endured the sexism of the election. Baldwin, in contrast, ratcheted up Trump's aggression here, interjecting often with "Wrong!"

Bern Your Enthusiasm (2016)

This spoof of Curb Your Enthusiasm with Bernie Sanders' long-lost twin Larry David as the Vermont senator on the 2016 campaign trail is too good not to include. Not only does David look like Sanders, he captures the senator's emphatic hand gestures and Brooklyn accent as well. Speaking of hands, the funny sketch is all about Sanders refusing to shake hands with a supporter who coughed.

Hillary Clinton Election Video Cold Open (2015)

Kate McKinnon's Hillary impression is, in short, brilliant, dialing up the former Secretary of State's ambition with a surreal, maniacal fervor as she launched her 2015 campaign with a video. McKinnon's style is a lot more unhinged than Amy Poehler's, which is why it works. I mean, she's literally slapping her chin and singing "first female president, first female president, me-me-me-me-me."

Sarah Palin and Hillary Address the Nation (2008)

In the midst of the 2008 election, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler team up as Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton to address the sexism in the race in this nonpartisan message. But SNL, while addressing an important issue, doesn't get too heavy-handed, gently poking fun at the mannerisms of the then governor and senator.

The Clinton's Halloween Party (2007)

In this fun sketch, we see Darrell Hammond and Amy Poehler as the Clintons throwing a party at their lovely home! We even see a cameo from Barack Obama wearing a mask of himself. Plus, Jason Sudeikis and Bill Hader pop up as Joe BIden and Chris Dodd in Spongebob costumes.

First Presidential Debate: Al Gore and George W. Bush (2000)

Darrell Hammond and Will Ferrell go face to face respectively as former VP Al Gore and then governor George W. Bush in the first 2000 presidential debate, playing the politicians, respectively, as drawl-prone and low-key incompetent. Ferrell's impression of Bush is flawless, exaggerating his cluelessness with furrowed squints.

Debate '76 (1976)

Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford and Dan Aykroyd as Jimmy Carter means that this take on the '76 debate could only carry on in hilarity. Chase played President Ford as someone who's very out of it, syringe sticking out of his suit and all.
