Get Excited — We're About to Learn a Hell of a Lot More About Jupiter

On Feb. 2, NASA's Juno spacecraft captured this stunning image of Jupiter's cloud tops. The mysterious dark spot is believed to be "a Jovian "galaxy" of swirling storms," according to a NASA press release. "Every time we get near Jupiter's cloud tops, we learn new insights that help us understand this amazing giant planet," wrote NASA.

NASA recently announced its plans for the Juno spacecraft to make its fifth flyby over the gas giant planet in order to discover new details about the planet's "origins, structure, atmosphere and magnetosphere." The recordings from Juno's first flyby over Jupiter's cloud tops in 2011 is expected to be released within the next few months. Are you excited?
