This Build-a-Bear "Pay Your Age" Deal Sounds Too Good to Be True, but It's VERY Real

If you happen upon a Build-a-Bear Workshop with your kids, you might be inclined to distract them so as not to be suckered into purchasing another $25 stuffed animal. But if you happen upon a Build-a-Bear Workshop this Thursday, July 12, you are going to want to step right up to claim your plush plaything.

That's because the retailer is hosting, for the first time ever, a "Pay Your Age Day." As part of this one-day-only deal, guests who visit any store in person can pay their current age in dollars for any make-your-own furry friend, including popular licensed characters, like those from Star Wars, Marvel, and even Trolls.

It sounds too good to be true, but it's very real: if your child is a year old, you pay $1.

It sounds too good to be true, but it's very real: if your child is a year old, you pay $1. Bringing a nine-year-old? That'll be $9 for a stuffed unicorn. What's more, for that one day, none of Build-a-Bear's guests will be a day over 29 years old – meaning, no matter their age, guests will pay no more than $29 for any furry friend in the store. A shopper who is 40 years old, for instance, will only pay $29 for a $35 stuffed animal. (Just don't get too gluttonous: outfits, sound machines, accessories, and scents are all sold separately.)

So what's the catch?

To participate in the Pay Your Age Day, parents or guardians need only enroll in the complimentary Build-a-Bear Bonus Club rewards program, and a valid email address and name are the only requirements! The other bit of fine print is that the person wishing to pay his or her age must be present at the time of purchase, but why wouldn't you want to bring your kid along for the once-in-a-lifetime experience?

If, however, the lines are expectantly long at your Workshop of choice, the store will even allow shoppers to purchase a furry friend unstuffed and return to "build" it another, less busy time.

So, cancel your plans on July 12, grab some spare change, and bring your baby to a Build-a-Bear!
