Do You Talk Extended Family with Your Pets?

I've already asked if you'd consider yourself parents (or if you'd buy a Mother's Day gift from a pet), however I'm curious to know how you refer to other animals in your home and friends in your life? I've been known to refer to close friends by names like "Uncle Michael" and "Auntie Dionne," but I admit it sounds funny (especially to only child me)! And even though North's an only pup, I don't know if I'd call another pet his "brother" or "sister." Hmm. And all that brings me to my final example – my college boyfriend's mother would refer to the family dog as his brother. Eeks! At what point do you think this is going too far? After you take the poll, I wanna hear all about it in your comments below.

My mom and dad are definitely grandma and grandpa and my dad refers to the boys as either the granddogs or the grandkids I call the boys brothers if one is in the room with me and the other is MIA I always ask "where is your brother?" and my friends all call themselves Auntie whatever whenever talking to the boys!

We have them all - we have different nicknames for each "grandmother", my friends are all aunts and uncles. My little girl also has lots of doggy and kitty cousins, and my mother's dog - which is my 'sister' - is my dog's aunt. And I love to tease my mother' dog about being "the adopted sibling" :D

I am "Auntie Ang" to two of my friend's pups, and they are my dog's aunties too. It doesn't really extend to my guy friends :-) because they would think I'm crazy.

when my man asks my dog to go to see me, he says to her: "Go to your Mama!" :rotfl: It makes me laugh! ;) And some very close friends are called "uncles" or "aunts" for my dog, because they know her from day 1! ;)

I'm usually referred to as "mommy" (by my mom) with my cat.

Even my mom, who "hates" animals, refers to herself as Grandma. I have no human children. Neither does my sister. We all do this in our family. I do have to say, as crazy as some people think I am about my kids, I've heard worse. My BIL's girlfriend is an only child and also, obviously, a female. Her parents have referred to their dog as "the daughter they never had". In front of their daughter. Ouch.

oh yeah. sisters, grandamas/pa, granddogs, great granddogs... you name it. When my mom is talking to her dogs, she refers to me as their sissy. :rotfl:

my cats are "sisters" (they were littermates and are inseperable) but I am not their "mother" and I correct my mom every time she tries to refer to me as such. She is NOT a grandmother and I am not a kittie momma! Animals, as much as we love them, are not people.

Our family cat is the third child of the family, so im a sister to the cat and my mum his mummy! (I think she [mum] has gone a bit crazy with me and my brother away from home and my dad always travelling)!

my mom is b-bops grandma and he has an auntie jennifer (my best friend) and that sort of thing. But my mom does refer to me as sissy when she talks to her dog. IMy mom considers hers to be here baby and I'm also her "baby" so I guess that makes us sisters in a weird way haha. But B-Bop is my baby so who knows when I have kids it might all change.

Hahaha, "only pup"--I love it! Lol re:referring to a dog as a brother. My dog has uncles and aunts (Only one is my brother) and a grammy. My bf's cat is a step-sister, and my bf is [his name]daddy.
