How Much Is Too Spendy for a Pet Bed?

When geeksugar spotted this super luxe bed on Born Rich, it totally prompted a discussion of how much is too much to spend on a bed for furry friends. I think we can all agree that the $1,000-$3,000 price tag for this 22-karat gold thread bed is extreme (even for those who love spoiling pets), and it's not even close to the $24,000 that the human version costs! While I can see spending more money on a long lasting item like a bed, 'cause my dog actually sleeps in one, how much is too much to you?

with all the outlet stores around there is no reason to spend over $100!

I sew a lot and I have made both of my dogs pet beds. I probably spent $50 on the fabric for the beds (with left over fabric to make toys and bedding) However I stuff the beds with old down comfortors that would otherwise be thrown out. I wouldn't buy the comfortors new to make the beds I would replace mine and use the old one for their beds but the boys do love their soft cushy beds! (If you add in the new comfortor cost I probably spend $300+ but I don't know if that really counts)

Oliver couldn't give a rat's fat one about cat beds. Honestly, I donated them to the local Humane Society! He just loves to roll around and sleep in clothing or towels that I have recently worn or used. This means that I have a nifty excuse for not having a well-kept household. Yep, that's my story. And I'm sticking to it! ;)

Rosie normally sleeps on my parent's bed or mine. She has a Whiskas cat sack which is lined with imitation lambswool which we got by collecting tokens from cat food boxes 2 years ago, she loves it!

Considering Brando's never come across a pet bed that he didn't rip to shreds, spending more than $50 is ridiculous to me. Once he stops tearing them apart, I'd spend up to $100 for a nice one.

Viva and Merlot usually sleep on our bed. I woke up this morning and Viva had somehow claimed my pillow in the middle of the night. Sometimes they do sleep on the comforter and blanket we set up on the floor, though. I'm planning on making them a bunk bed though. It'll give Merlot a way to be out of Viva's reach when she wants alone time.

I definitely think anything over $100 is too much. You can definitely find nice, well-made beds for a good price.
