Out and About: Florida's "Dogs Gone Wild" and The Tides South Beach

Our week in Florida has come to an end... but I wanna stay for the weekend! My fave hotel, The Tides South Beach, is a luxurious option for those of you traveling with animals. The Ocean Drive, 45-room suite hotel provides pads and litterboxes, and accepts pets up to 35 pounds. At the end of your weekend, take a short walk to The China Grill. Every Sunday (weather permitting), the restaurant hosts a "Dogs Gone Wild" al fresco party from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on their patio. Featuring special menus, a play area, and a dog lounge, it's a great place for pups and their peeps to mingle after a walk down the paved Beachwalk (14th to 21st Street) or a visit to the local Dog Bar, a 24-hour luxury pet department store.

There are several dog friendly hotels in south beach that cater to dogs larger than 30 lbs. As long as your dog is well behaved (dog travel etiquette is a must). On the larger scale there is the Leowes and the Ritz Carlton. On the smaller boutique hotel side is The Sanctuary. There are lots of great restaurants along Lincoln Road that allow dog's in cafes. It's great because it's a road that is for foot traffic only. There is fun window shopping for owner and dog alike. Plus many of the shops have water bowls in front. The Dog Bar is right off Lincoln Road.

Sorry for the confusion – the size rule is for the hotel, not for the event at China Grill.

I agree with the small dog comment. Also, it is interesting that the puppy in the ad looks like it will definately be waaaay more than 35lbs. I also kinda find it creepy that it's in a food container....just me?

only pets up to 35lbs? my 6 month old puppy is already 50+ lbs. i am so sick of "dog friendly" meaning "yorkie and westie friendly". how about be honest and advertise SMALL dog friendly? these trends seem to only welcome the more-recently very popular toy breeds
