That childhood dream of getting a puppy for Christmas didn't come true for us at the age of 10, but we're finally getting the chance to cuddle with canines (take that, Santa). In the spirit of the giving season, Tobias, Rosebud, and Flower aren't your average dogs, either. These animals are a part of the Unleashed after-school program [2] for teen girls in New York City. For 12 weeks, young women get a chance to enhance their leadership skills and explore the intricacies of social justice. As a part of the program, the middle school ladies study animal rights issues in addition to socializing with the rescued puppies Unleashed harbors.
