Animals are much more sensitive to the slightest changes than us humans. Call is psychic or whatever - but it's true they know things before we do. And they can see things we can't - I had a cat who would stare for hours at an invisible spot on the wall and meow to it. Talk about creepy!!

I know that my dog and cat from my childhood would always come and comfort me when I was crying. My cat now doesn't seem to get the concept and will run away when I try to hold him when I'm upset, maybe he's just a typical man in that sense.

I'm not sure psychic is the right word, but there deffinetly are things that animals can sence alot better then people. When I was diagnosed with epilepsy a couple of years ago, my doctor told me about seizure dogs. These dogs are trained like most other suport and therapy dogs,(like guide dogs for the blind), but their special ability is to warn their human that they are going to have a seizure before it happens and then keep them safe during a seizure. Nobody really knows exactly how dogs can tell when someone is going to have a seizure yet but it has been proven that they can do it. :) My seizure dog ended up being a little old pekingese from a rescue who was near totaly blind but still he was set on takeing care of me. He had the ability to sence when I would get sick and even though he had no training seemed to know that I shouldnt be moveing around then. He would bark at me till I lied down! He was such a bossy little guy but he always knew what to do to make me feel better.

Animals know us better than we think. They can pick up subtle changes like tone of voice, body language, or slight changes in routine. Plus the sense of smell is way beyond anything that we can imagine. They know what is going on alright but it is scientific not supernatural.

I dont think they are psychic, but I do think they are very in tune with what their owner is feeling. I suffer from chronic pain unfortunately (in the abdomen) and when Im having a severe bout, my girl knows. Funny thing, I dont cry, no noises - just lay on the couch and try to concentrate on something else and she will stare me down. I pick her up, and she'll walk up the couch, onto my stomach and walk around - kneading the area a little bit, and lay on it. Sounds normal maybe, but the area where it hurts is akward for her to lay there, and she wont move from it. They say that pets are good therapy for pain patients, and I tell you- she's gotten me through the worst times in my life. She's been snuck into the hospital as well. lol

Dogs are masters of observation. They recognize what you are going to do by your actions, etc. I have often thought that there also must be smells that are associated with our moods and well-being that dogs pick up on. They have gajillions of receptors in their noses while we have merely hundreds. Or is it thousands? :dog:

I don't think animals are psychic in the traditional sense of the word, but they can sense a lot of things that we cannot. They are excellent at reading emotions, and like someone said, there are animals who can detect cancer. There's a lot we just don't understand about animals' senses. Pretty fascinating stuff. On a personal note, having a pet who knows when you're feeling down is the greatest thing in the world. I don't have to explain my day or my mood, and he just comes up and gives me some love. It can turn a day right side up again.

I'm not sure my pets can see into the future, per se, however I do know that they are much better able to see/read/feel patterns that we've lost the connection to.

Well, being psychic is really just someone (or something) that is able to perceive things such as feelings or emotions from others through ESP. So all the posts here where you are stating your pets know when you are down or not feeling well really does equate to them being psychic. I am fairly certain that animals are psychic. My pets ALWAYS know when things aren't right. From the weather, an earthquake, a cold, to a breakup my kitties know what's up and respond accordingly. They are our early warning system. :)

I don't think they are really psychic, but because most animals have a heightened sense of smell I think they can detect chemical changes. Like cancer sniffing dogs and Oscar the Death Cat who knew when patients in a hospice were close to death.

Animals just pay attention to emotions better than people. Seriously! Psychic.. probably not.

My cat, Zamboni, knew I was pregnant immediately, I believe (maybe even before I was sure). I went through IVF and had some serious issues early on in the pregnancy, and I swear he knew something was different. He suddenly became very protective of me and my tummy and spent several weeks laying next to me or on me whenever I was resting on the couch. He's always preferred me to my husband, but this was oddly different than his typical behavior. It was very striking and sweet. He's less that way now that I'm 7 months along (now he's freaking because the baby gifts are arriving!), but at the time I was sure he knew.

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying pets are psychic but I used to have a dog KNEW exactly when it was going to storm or rain because he'd get really upset and start hiding hours before it even started. The same with my cat, he can definitely tell long before it's going to storm and he goes into hiding. Also, I think my cat can tell when you're upset because he'll generally just come and lay on you or sit on your lap and just let you pet him which is a really rare thing for him.

Well, my Maltese always knows when I'm sick, hurting or sad! Usually he is crazy fun and trying to pull the socks off my feet. When I'm sick or down he knows it! He will come and snuggle into me and just go to sleep. When I need to cry he won't let me do it alone. He stays with me and seems to know when I am feeling better! As soon as he thinks I'm ready he lays a big dog lick on me! Sometimes he just stares at me and I swear he winks at me! So maybe he can read my mind and maybe he is just in tune with my emotions. Whatever it is, he's wonderful!

I dunno, I think animals are kind of creepy they know things. When I lived at home, my fmaily went away every weekend and I was home alone looking after the two dogs and 5 cats... And let me tell you, some very creepy things happened...
