Please Meet Eclipse, the Black Lab Who Takes Herself to the Dog Park Every Day

As a dog owner, I put a lot of trust in my pooch. I expect him to refrain from eating out of the garbage when I'm gone and snuggle up to me on particularly chilly nights. While I give my dog a pretty long leash, a Black Lab named Eclipse is the definition of an independent woman. In a now-viral Facebook post shared by a woman named Robbie Lauren, we learned that Eclipse actually walks to the dog park by herself every day. How's that for impressive?

"This is Eclipse. Every day she leaves her house, by herself, and takes the bus downtown to the dog park where she spends a couple of hours getting exercise and making friends, and then she takes the bus back home again," reads the post. "She even has her own bus pass attached to the collar."

If you're anything like me, you probably have a million questions. How did her owner let this happen? How does she even know what a bus stop is? Honestly, it seems like the dog version of the '90s movie Matilda, when she leaves her house every single day to go to the library by herself.

"All of the bus drivers know her and she makes them smile, and many of the regular passengers enjoy seeing her every day and will often sit down next to her.

According to the post, it all began because Eclipse simply couldn't wait to have a little fun. "It started when her owner, Jeff Young, was taking too long when the bus arrived, so she impatiently ran ahead and got on the bus by herself," explained Robbie. "The bus driver recognized her and dropped her off at the dog park, and later Jeff caught up with her. After several more trips by herself, Jeff started letting her go on her own, and she always comes back home a couple of hours later."

And before anyone freaks out, apparently everyone in town not only knows the pup, but looks out for Eclipse. She's truly become a beloved pillar of the community. "All of the bus drivers know her and she makes them smile, and many of the regular passengers enjoy seeing her every day and will often sit down next to her," wrote Robbie. "Even the police have given their approval as long as the bus drivers are okay with the arrangement. She makes everybody happy."

Keep reading to get a look at some of Eclipse's adventures so far. If we lived in town, we'd certainly make a habit out of cruising by the dog park!
