This 90-Year-Old Chose Life on the Road Instead of Cancer Treatment — and She Loves It

A few days after 90-year-old Miss Norma's ailing husband of 67 years passed away, she found herself in a doctor's office for an entirely different reason: her own health. When the doctor informed the nonagenarian that she had a large, cancerous mass on her uterus and offered her various treatment options, she simply told him: "I'm 90 years old; I'm hitting the road." Since then, she's been traveling across the country in an RV with her son and daughter-in-law.

Despite her many years, regular need for a wheelchair, and uterine cancer, Norma is thriving on the road — an adventure chronicled by her kids on a Facebook page called Driving Miss Norma. On the page, they share updates about their travels, Norma's health, and the fun people they meet along the way. Norma can already cross some major destinations off her to-visit list, including Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, Walt Disney World, and the Kennedy Space Center. Check out some more of her adventures here, and be sure to keep up with her travels on Facebook!

One of Miss Norma's favorite hobbies is "shelling," or collecting seashells from different beaches. During the course of her travels, she's amassed quite a collection!

When the opportunity presents itself (like it did on this boat in Florida), Norma even gets behind the wheel!

Norma's son and daughter-in-law gifted her with a hot air balloon ride for Christmas, and she was able to enjoy the world from up above. "He lifted her in and out of the basket! Norma was laughing so hard she couldn't breathe," described her family on Facebook, also noting that Norma enjoyed her first mimosa before the balloon ride.

Norma has a taste for adventure — and sometimes that means tasting uniquely flavored beers.

When asked about her trip to Epcot, Norma said "it was a ball." Get it?

We can't wait to see where the road takes Norma next! What an inspiration.
