Breakout the Guiness: 27 Bottles of Wine For $500,000 Is a Record

An entrepreneur and billionaire from Beijing bought $500,000 of wine from London's Antique Wine Company, which gives the anonymous buyer a record of paying the highest price ever for a single lot of wine. While this is certainly remarkable, I know most of us could think of several more immediate uses for that amount of cash. But this mystery oenophile's story did get me thinking about records that we all hold in our own consumer pasts. It isn't that that expensive, but when I graduated from college, I bought myself a Kate Spade bag for $400. The most I paid for a meal would definitely be in France last month, where basically any nice meal will run you around $75-100.

When I graduated with my MS degree, I took myself to a really nice restaurant. I've always wanted to go to this particular seafood restaurant and it was really nice. I see why they are expensive. I never really bought anything like bags or clothes. I am not there as of yet.

Right after I passed the Bar I bought a beautiful big Coach bag for $400.00. I know it's not a lot compared to what spend people spend on bags, but I was just out of law school and not making a lot of money, and it was a big splurge!
