Did You Have to Mail in Your Taxes After You Got Married?

This question comes from Senorita in the SavvySugar Q and A group.

I went to file my taxes and TurboTax told me I had to mail them in and I couldn't file online. The only thing that has changed since last year when I was able to file online was getting married. Did this happen to anyone else? It isn't a big deal, but more of an annoyance. Will I have to mail it each year now?

I don't think it has anything to do with marriage. My boyfriend was told he couldn't e-file either. We live together but aren't married...he was wondering the same thing. I'd like to know if anyone has the answer as to why some people wouldn't be allowed to file online.

I've definitely e-filed with TurboTax after getting married. I'd recommend following up with TurboTax customer support. I would think they'd be able to give you an answer on why you couldn't file online.
