Fly on the Cheap This Summer With Southwest

We already love Southwest for its no-fee policies, and now the airline is giving us another reason to scour its website before any others. Southwest is having a Summer sale with one-way fares starting at $49. You must purchase your tickets by May 14 for travel through October 28, and a 14-day advance purchase is required. Another restriction — travel is only valid on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Combine your discounted airline tickets with a half-priced hotel room and you've got a vacation that looks much more affordable. Saving money on these big-ticket items means you'll have enough left over to try a couple great restaurants on your trip, and still have money to keep in the bank.

Whoo! I'm flying from Portland to Phoenix for $99 each way. The cheapest any of the "discount" sites could find was over $300! I would never be able to afford to fly without Southwest.

Check out Virgin, too! They just had $50 round-trip from LA to SF, or $350 round-trip LA to Sydney!! It's a good thing I've got so much to do this summer, or I might have been off to Australia!
