Savvy Savings Challenge: What Did You Learn?

We just completed a 40-day Savvy Savings Challenge in the SavvySugar Community with the goal to help one another make smarter choices and build our piggy banks. I started with the hope of giving up all unnecessary spending for all of Lent, and though I had a few slipups, was largely successful. To see how I fared, and how you can share your updates,

My goal at the start of the challenge was to restrict my clothes shopping and the pricey parking garage near work. Though I cheated four times by driving to work and had a relatively inexpensive shopping spree (hey, the sale was amazing and I needed an outfit for an event!), I estimate I saved about $300 in 40 days. No small potatoes! I couldn't feel more proud of myself because I cut spending I already knew was frivolous. It was a healthy — albeit long — lesson in priorities, controlling instant gratification and smart choices. I plan on rewarding myself with a $50 Spa Week treatment and keeping the rest of my savings where it belongs...in the bank.
