Is the value of education priceless? Let's hope so because the cost of college is projected to continue rising in years to come. Um, are they certain GW is the most expensive??? My alum cost almost that much when I graduated a few years ago and I KNOW tuition increases between 3-8% yearly. Soooo, yeah. I beg to differ. And YES they need to include student fees, room/board and an average for LAB FEES!!!! YIKES!

I was thinking GW was in a really expensive area, but I thought they handed out a good number of scholarships? Guess that doesn't really factor in....but would the area really affect the tuition as opposed to room and board?

Shadowcat14, where exactly do you think GW is located? In the country? Unless it has moved recently, I believe it is located in a very urban, very expensive area indeed.

I agree with Shadowcat14. The overall cost of the school (tuition, room, and board) is what people usually base their can-I-afford-this? decisions on.

It's a pity that tuition rates in this country are so high. I suggest studying at the right universities in Europe if you get the chance; top-quality education (believe me, I've studied there and it's really as rigorous if not better) for a fraction of the tuition rate.

I really think they should start factoring room/dining options into these equations. Then suddenly NYU and a bunch of other urban schools make these look cheap. GW was the only school my parents told me to not apply to because the base tuition was so astronomical.

that's really funny about GW being the most expensive - since i almost went there and my SIL went there. go figure! i think that it says something when you realize that you're in a country that doesn't always make it possible for you to get that education....unless you have the money to contribute.

100% - I'm so smart because I graduated from the most expensive school in the country, and I'm getting my Ph.D. from an almost-as-expensive school (though my Ph.D. is 100% funded, and thankfully most of my undergrad was covered by an academic scholarship). I'm going to make it through all my education with no debt. Yay, me! GW was definitely good to me -- no regrets at all!!

My brother is starting at GW this fall, but he's going practically for free because of all the scholarships because he's a frickin genius. If only we were all so lucky!

GW grad here... so not worth it! Well, education wise that is. The location could not be beat.
