The Office Glee Viewing Party

What Event Had You Out of Your Office Seat?

Last night's episode of The Office started its opening scene with the staff of Dunder Mifflin crowding around a TV to watch the capture of the local serial killer, the Scranton Strangler. Jim nicely sums up everyone's fascination when he says, "Some events are so historic that you have to stop everything to watch. Balloon boy. Michael Jackson's funeral. Things that if you didn't see them live you wouldn't really care that you didn't see them at all."

The most recent event that had our office jumping out of our seats was the Giants parade — its route was right alongside our workplace so we had a pretty good view of it from our windows. Another time was when a car near our building exploded and burst into flames. Smoke filled the air, and we got out of our seats to see what was going on outside. What kind of events got you and your co-workers out of your chairs?

The last huge thing to happen that made everyone freak out at our lab was Michael Jackson's death. It was all anyone could talk about for days.

Across the street from my office is the Customs and Border Protection headquarters and a shady motel. At the beginning of the year a drug deal went terribly wrong at the shady motel and some guy was holding another guy at gunpoint, but everyone seemed to think this was all happening at the CBP headquarters so there was a huge fiasco - streets closed, helicopters in the sky, police everywhere - and we weren't allowed to leave our office so we stood at the windows and watched the whole thing go down.
