Amazon Kindle Out of Stock

The Kindle Is Out of Stock: Two Possible Reasons Why

Not since the original Kindle has Amazon listed the ereader as "Out of Stock" with no sign as to when it will be made available again. At first glance, it seems the recent price war between the Kindle, Nook, and Sony Reader has worked wonders, boosting sales and depleting the company of its stock (although it seems there may still be some stock in local Target stores after a few quick calls).

However, there is another reason why the Kindle could be M.I.A. so suddenly. Learn more about it after the jump.

A new model of Kindle could be on the way — possibly one with a touchscreen, or the Kindle 3, which is rumored to come with a thinner body and sharper display. The Kindle has been the leader in ereaders for some time and is now selling more ebooks than hardcovers, and is the ereader of choice for one silver screen starlet.

We know all too well from recent events that when a product goes missing, it probably means an update is soon to follow. Why do you think the Kindle is M.I.A?
