Your streaming experience is about to change — again. Amazon is joining Netflix and Hulu and is offering its streaming service [1], Prime Video, as a stand-alone option for the first time.

The service will cost $9 a month, a dollar cheaper than $10 a month for Netflix, according to The Wall Street Journal [2]. Prime Video is a pretty great streaming service [3], with its own original programming with TV shows like Transparent [4] and the ability to download episodes and movies offline for later viewing. It also has a deal with HBO and Epix, a cable network that brings big-name movies like The Hunger Games to streaming.

And if you're a fan of Amazon Prime but find it hard to pay the $100 annual fee, you can now subscribe to the service on a month-to-month basis. It will now retail for $11 a month, which on a monthly basis will cost more than if you pay the upfront fee. However, it's definitely a low-cost option if you need to use it just for a certain time of the year — like holiday shopping or wedding season.

Whether you choose to subscribe to Prime Video or not, having another option to finally cut the cable cord [5] is great news for everyone.
