Forget walking on the moon. (JK, never do that.) One of the coolest astronaut achievements comes from Leland Melvin, who managed to sneak his beloved dogs Jake and Scout into his official NASA portrait. The picture of the astronaut, who retired last February, has gone viral in recent days, thanks to Twitter users who discovered the gem.

First a newspaper reporter in Missouri tweeted it.

Others wondered how he got the dogs into the photo, and Melvin confirmed he is a bit of a sneaky snake.

His story is just as incredible as the photo; he originally played in the NFL before flying missions on the Space Shuttle Atlantis in the late 2000s. Unfortunately, he had to stop space missions after going partially deaf from an underwater training exercise, but he became the head of the NASA education program, teaching kids about the importance of STEM.
