The BalanceBall Is Good For Your Back And Your Butt

Anything that helps me get in shape while sitting down is something that grabs my attention because unfortunately, I am sitting at my desk for at least 10 hours a day. The BalanceBall Chair is not your conventional office chair. Designed with help from the chiropractic expert Dr. Randy Weinzoff, the BalanceBall is a great way to strengthen your core muscles and improve your spinal alignment. The actual chair looks like a huge yoga ball on easy-glide casters with adjustable support for the lower back. It might not be the most stylin' chair but your back will definitely be thanking you! Everyone at work has one of these, but not the chair, just the ball. We all love them- they're fantastically comfortable- you'd be surprised! Plus I find myself bouncing up and down all day and sitting up straighter which is much better than slumping back in my chair and hunching over my computer. I do still have my chair around for days when I'm spending a TON of time at my desk though. But seriously, I love sitting on a yoga ball all day.

I'd love to have one of these. I've recently started feeling like I'm getting a hunchback from my work chair...

I don't think so. Sitting at a desk mught not be good for my posture, but I certainly don't want to be thinking about it while i'm working.

I had one of these in college! I picked mine up from like OfficeDepot for $40, but I swear it was the same exact chair. I loved it (so did my pet rabbit, Mr. Pink, but that's a different story)...I miss it now.

These are great but not necessarily if you are at your desk all day. After several hours they can cause fatigue from your muscles being so constantly engaged and that can make you compensate using other muscles and over long term you can cause damage. My physical therapist (I have a back injury from a car accident) recommended that I switch it up and have a chair to use as well. It is also tough to get the ball chairs to be at the proper height to use your keyboard and look at your screen properly. They aren't usually as adjustable as regular office chairs. I switch to my chair when I start to notice I'm getting uncomfortable. This also makes me stand up and move once in awhile. I mostly notice that there is no leg or back support. In the end I think that using mine for a few hours a day has helped my core strength tremendously.

It would be a nice revolution to have an office full of people sitting on balls.
