Barnes and Noble Nook Named GeekSugar Reader's Favorite eReading Device

Best of 2009 Winner: Favorite eReader Device

Although the Nook has barely left the starting gate in 2009, it's already your favorite eReader of the year! Beating out the Amazon Kindle 2 for the top spot, the Nook's sleek interface, 3G and WiFi connectivity, scrolling touch screen, and storage for an endless supply of titles in its 2GB of memory all make it the leader in portable reading. Running at a virtual tie, the Kindle DX, Sony PRS-700, and Sony's Red PRS-505 take home third place billing.

The Nook has had its share of release and supply setbacks, but that's not stopping you (and yours truly) from getting in line and placing your orders. Unfortunately, Barnes and Noble isn't expecting another shipment out to customers until February, so if you want to get your hands on this year's winner, get your order in now!

@KindleKlaus I'm still a fan of the Kindle too as well as the Sony 505. I thought the Nook looked interesting at first, but most reviews I've read are saying it is slooow and buggy. If the user has never used anything but a Nook they'll think it's great, if they've ever used another ereader they won't be so impressed. Also Amazon customer service is stellar. I have not heard such good things about B&N. What I really don't get is how a device that is so new and virtually untested made it to the top of this list. I really think this is a case of people voting for 'anything' but Amazon.

I'll become interested as soon as they put a web browser on it. It runs on the Android platform, and hackers have pulled it off, so I know it can be done. I'm sure AT&T is partly the reason for its absence.
