Bill Gates Talks About Vista on John Stewart

I have to say, I've seen Bill Gates speak a couple times regarding the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and he has always been passionate, charming and awesomely geeky. Last night, Gates went on John Stewart's Daly Show to talk about today's release of Microsoft Vista and honestly, he just wasn't as funny as I wanted him to be. Perhaps my standards are too high.

What I learned: Gates has couple computers, one of which is the Tablet. Bill Gates' screen saver: family photos. Want to know more? Watch Gates describing his favorite Vista features.

I thought he might have mentioned the Foundation as well.

Jon is everadorable, and Bill Gates was funny. But his description of the "future of interactive tv" couldn't have bored me more. Personally, i don't want to interact with my television as much as i want better video content with more diverse programming to be offered on my computer... along the lines of where it seemed current was going, where youtube is taking babysteps toward, and where I'm hoping joost will eventually go. Anyways, i would have liked to have heard more about Gates' philanthropic efforts. Being the #1 philanthropy in the country (and perhaps the world), I would have thought Jon might have mentioned Warren Buffett or some of the Foundation's causes.

I actually thought he did pretty well, although he didn't talk much about what was new with Vista compared to XP. His response when John Stewart asked about F12 was pretty funny. I didn't know what it did either, so I set it to make the greek symbol for gamma, which I actually need in my science writing.

Why did he run off like that? was it because Jon questioned whether people wanted to have to interact with their television entertainment?

Gates is believed to have Asperger's (a form of autism), which is something to keep in mind when you watch the interview.

I just saw this tonight with my dad and grandmother! My grandmother was so hip she actually knew who Jon Stewart and Steve Colbert were. I was very impressed :-) I thought the interview was really good. I liked the discussion about passivity in watching TV versus activity in using the computer.
