BlackBerry and Releasing Flip Phones

Do You Still Like Flip Phones?

When I was in college, all I wanted was a flip phone. I didn't get a cell phone until my senior year, and being a student who could barely afford my voice plan, I took the free-with-service Nokia phone. It was a great little phone, but I just drooled over the fancy flip phones that some of my friends had. I have no idea why I thought they were so cool, but I was like Romy in Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion: "Ooh! A flip phone!"

Now it seems mobile phone design has moved away from the flip and back to a full body design that can accommodate a touchscreen or a keyboard (like the iPhone or the BlackBerry Curve), so I'm wondering if people are still into the flip body style enough (like Sarah Jessica Parker) to muster excitement for the new BlackBerry Pearl 8220 and the LG Lotus, both of which flip. I'm kind of over them - I've got an iPhone and a Curve - but think that these flip designs are more innovative than previous ones, and could bring in the second wave of cool flip phones. Tell me where you stand!

I've been forced to like candy bar and now sliders phones because I always buy Nokias. One thing about a flip phone is you never have to worry about dialing someone by accident because you didn't lock the keypad.

My first phone was back in '95 and man, it was a monster. Then I had a Nokia that was huge. I always wanted a flip so I got one finally. (LG CU500). Now I have a palm centro because I was tired of the flip (and accidentally hanging up on people). :)

I like 'em! My Razr is built like a tank, I've dropped it down from a third story window and nary a crack or anything, just a weird dent on the corner. That said, my boyfriend just got a Curve and I am squirming with jealousy.

I really like flip phones... After a short time with the horrible original chocolate (the worst phone ever) I now have a chocolate 3 and love it!

Flip phone or something else that hides the keyboard away easily and effectively... heard FAR TOO MANY horror stories about full phones "unlocking" and calling someone (usually long distance) from inside a pocket or purse.

I loooove flip phones. I have a Sidekick3 and the novelty of the SK line of phones quickly wore off on me and it made me miss the Motorola V600 flip phone that I had before the SK. I just ordered the Motorola a1200 smartphone/pda FLIP phone <3 Touchscreen+flip? I'm down.

My first couple of phones were full body phones, then I had flip phones and now I have a stupid Chocolate. I'm going back to a flip phone as soon as possible. I've heard people talk about breaking them, but I think you'd have to sit on them while they're open or something. What would I know, I've never broken a phone. Wouldn't mind breaking this POS Chocolate, though. (Ironically, the Verizon phone I like best at the moment is the Chocolate 3).

the razr turned me off from flip phones. but i think people talk quieter with flip phones than they do with tablet phones. i guess there is something to say about the mouth piece actually being close to the mouth.

I love flip phones. I'm going to be buying a new phone soon and I'm only in the market for a flip phone. I mean it'd be nice to have an iPhone, but that's not feasible on my budget. Plus, I've been coveting a Motorola U9 for quite some time now.

I had a samsung flip phone in high school and then a pink razer my first year of college. I used to love flipping them open and close. lol. but I don't think I'd be able to go back to flip phones. I love my pink palm centro!

All I need in a phone is the ability to make and receive phone calls. A flip phone works better for me, since the numbers and screen and everything are inside and wont get messed up being near my keys in my purse.

I like flip phones coz of the protected/covered keypad. But I don't really care, I look at the features more.

I love flip phones. I don't mind any type of phone, but I prefer flip phones (especially Sony Ericsson) because they don't break as easily. I had my phone for two years and it fell....well...probably about 120 times. I'm not exaggerating. If I had any other type of phone it would have been broken already. Sure my screen got messed up and the top of the phone was a bit shakey, but it was/still is good. I also love flip phones because they don't call people or go to different things when it is in your pocket/bag. I always called people or pressed 15 different buttons and it was annoying. I put it on lock, but flip phones are just easier.

I am so over them! Most people bought because they were pretty, not because of any useful features it may have. I had a pink RZR and it was one of the most useless phones I've ever owned. Now I use a cell not just to make calls, but to check e-mail, surf the web, text messaging, use the camera, watch videos, etc. and my new LG Dare serves those purposes and a whole lot more. The touchscreen takes some getting used to, but I love it. (Plus it has the best camera in the history of cell phones!!)
