Along with watching Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! on Saturday mornings, some of us were also into collecting the playing cards. If you happen to fall into this category, then you know it was an expensive habit — at least for a kid at the time. Reddit user one23abc [1] shared a memory of these card-collecting days and revealed that because his family was too poor to afford card games, he and his brother made their own instead.

He then posted a photo gallery [2] on Imgur of all his hand-drawn cards and included descriptions of what each card meant. The inspiring story has received over 2,840 comments with positive ones like, "You made me smile from ear to ear!" and the gallery itself has been viewed over 1 million times. In the comments, he's revealed more details [3], like that each deck had seven restoration item cards that were unchanged from deck to deck and that his brother is getting a PhD in biotechnology while he's in mechanical engineering.

It's amazing to see the work that went into crafting these cards, and after looking at the detailed drawings below, you'll find yourself smiling too.
