Last year, the Kindle broke free from its online-only storefront and moved into larger retail outlets like Target and Best Buy. Now, it's landing in another, sort-of-unlikely location. Starting Sunday, you can pick up a Kindle 3G at an AT&T store.
The Kindle's 3G connection does not require any sort of data plan, which is why this idea seems a bit confusing to me. But AT&T is hoping that the addition of the Kindle to its in-store stock will draw more customers into the store — though the Kindle 3G is also able to connect through AT&T's wireless network. Kindles sold at AT&T stores will carry the same price tag as Kindles sold in other locations: $189.
