Stevie Wonder made a couple good points. When I first read it on MSN, I thought, "Oh here's another celebrity whining," but I ended up agreeing with his concerns. Producing technology that was not dependant on sight really would help for instances like safer driving, for easier multitasking, and for the older population whose vision is decreasing. Shoot, even the younger population's vision is decreasing from computer screen and tv strain. We're a very visual consumer culture, but we have other great, efficient senses too, let's use them.
