I wasn't saying they don't make a profit when selling the iPod Touch.. it just doesn't continue to generate new profits for them like Apple TV. Thus why the Apple TV update was free even though it makes your device so much more robust. I'm not saying that Apple doesn't do annoying things occasionally, keep in mind I had the privilege of paying $200 extra for my iPhone ;-)

i'm not 100% sure that ipod touch is not a profit making device... I didnt know people who buy them now get the new stuff already on there!? is this true? yeah 20$ isnt much but the more i think about it, the more annoyed i get... stupid apple. and im afraid to use jailbreak and void my warranty on it... :S

I have several problems with the $20 update. 1) It's crap that people who buy an iPod Touch now don't have to pay for it. 2) The iPod Touch has always had the capabilities for those apps; but now you have to pay $20 to unlock them? Ridiculous. $20 isn't that bad, except when you figure that's $4 per some little widget that should be free (and are free for Macs). I'll be waiting to get them until they're free. Until then, I definitely don't need them.

At first I thought it was odd that they were charging $20 for the software upgrade on the iPod Touch (I really just want to call that thing the iTouch). Then my husband pointed out that the iPod Touch is not a profit making device like the Apple TV. I guess it makes sense. And I agree with Tdamji, $20 is nothing in the big picture if it is truly useful to you :-)

it's really cute - i just want it to be in the power book so i can get it - i'm anti macbook - and i need to replace my powerbook...

no way - where are the just-because-we-like-to-be-innovative upgrades for other brands of products?! apple is great - 20$ is nothing for all those extras. one could just not upgrade if the price is that much of a concern. i actually dislike the new macbook pro keyboards. not very clicky. love the black and silver combo like my old g4. obviously the macbook air isn't for everyone: but isn't it nice to have options?! 3 options...pretty descent, don't you think?!

I love my 15 inch Mac Book Pro, but I know some people who would consider the Mac Book Air. I strongly dislike the Black Keyboard and wish it was silver. One reason I decided not to get a macbook was because I hate the keyboard. I love the keyboard on the MacBook Pro though. But the built in camera and touch pad are great!

With its lack of removable battery, and its severe lack in the peripherals department (only 1 USB, no audio in, no ethernet, no built-in optical drive)... the MacBook Air is so very NOT for me, even if it were much cheaper.

I've always liked the white Macbooks. But gimme anything slim and lightweight... 8D

the macbook air is absolute hotness. i wouldn't get it b/c i depend on the larger screen and performance of the macbookpro for work, but it'd be fun to play with one of these =).
