chasingjamie: DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. Whenever you purchased music or videos from iTunes, it was DRM protected, which meant that you were the only person who could access the media (or download it to your computer). Not only that, but if you have music on your iPod, you are restricted from transferring that DRM protected music to non-Apple devices. Apple announced yesterday that consumers can now download DRM-free music from iTunes. And music purchased prior to this announcement can become DRM-free for 30 cents. And if you have entire albums in your library, you can pay 30 percent of the entire album cost to make it DRM-free as well.

chasingjamie, DRM stands for "digital rights management" and is used to restrict usage of digital files (i.e. people from illegally distributing music and movies).
