Do You Still Have a Landline?

We all know escaping your cell phone contact can be brutal, but cell phones provide some serious (and obvious) benefits. They are portable, relatively inexpensive and most of them offer handy features that make your portable home phone look like a brick. I ditched my landline a long time ago because no one called me on it anymore and I always have my cell with me. Have you pulled the cord yet?

I canceled my landline months ago and stay in touch with my trusty Tracfone just fine. I don't chat much so it suits me (and more importantly, my pocket).

I have a land line, but if it were up to me, we wouldn't have one at all. I live with my sis and brother-in-law, so it's namely their choice, but again,I could live without a land line.

i'm always tempted to get rid of my cell phone just like i did my land line. there was a time when people survived without telephones. i'm disappointed that i've become as attached to mine as i am.

Getting rid of the landline when we move. The only reason we have it now is for DSL & security system.

I also use my landline for DVR and alarm. It is also more secure to use a landline if you have to give sensitive information over the phone, you will need an old school phone cause cordless phone are not secure. Call me paranoid.

I haven't had a landline in years. When I canceled my service, I got an Evoice (internet voicemail) account. That's the number I give out to avoid unsolicited calls on my cell.

We have a landline for a ocuple of reasons. Cell signal isn't always that great and is super unpredictable so in case of an emergency I feel better knowing that I can still call out. Also and this is so shameful we still have dial up internet so we have to have the phone line. Plus with all the bundles available with satellite internet and phone service it's not all that expensive

I canceled my land line several years ago, but was recently forced to get one again for two reasons. 1) My favorite local restaraunt has started to refuse home delivery to customers who don't have land lines because of all the pranks they have been victimized with. 2) My pay per view with the local cable company needs a two way line in order to use instant ordering from the cable box. So, even though these two reasons are convenience based, it is worth the $14.95 I pay for a land line per month. But, I do not answer any calls on the land line and I do not give out the number. Unless I ordered food, I know its a wrong number if that phone rings.

My parents have one, but I don't use it when I'm home. I plan on just using my cell phone when I get my apartment to. I always have it with me, and if it's not on "ring" it's on "vibrate" and I always check it.

I got rid of my landline when I moved to the city, and have always been happy about it. However, now that they have Voice-over-IP for cell phones, I might consider getting a package that would give me both.

Landline, but the Voice Over IP kind. Cell phones are fine, but when I have to call out of country the cost really adds up. VoIP is free to call to Canada. And my cell phone is too uncomfortable to talk on for a long period of time.

Haven't had a land line in 3 years, and don't really need it. If somebody can't get a hold of me they can always call my husband's phone.

We don't have good cell access in my area of town - if you go to the top of the driveway and face east you can usually get a fair signal. So yes, a land line is imperative. I don't know anyone who doesn't have a landline. And, no, I don't live in the boonies, but in Southwestern CT.

Yes. We too had to get a landline in order to get internet connection. But we do use it - I can always hear that phone where I never seem to be able to hear my cell phone!
