Find Out Which Author You Write Like

Which Famous Author Do You Write Like? This Tool Tells You

Whether you write for a living or just as a hobby, sometimes we all need a little bit of motivation, and today, I found mine! A new tool from a journaling software company analyzes your writing and compares you to an accomplished famous writer. Just copy and paste a few paragraphs of text into the tool, hit the "analyze" button, and view your results! My first try gave me Ernest Hemmingway — not too shabby!
Friends of mine received results like Raymond Chandler and David Foster Wallace. And after analyzing this short article, the tool says I write like Dan Brown (man, I sure wouldn't mind collecting his Da Vinci Code paycheck).

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to chain myself to my laptop and my favorite writing program, and pen the next Great American Novel.

It turns out this is more or less a scam. The results are all random, and it's being funded by a vanity press looking for publicity. Details:

I submitted different things and got different responses. One was an article about the cemetery film screenings which garnered a response of Mary Shelly. The next was a portion of a short story that I wrote which got me Stephan King, and the third was a project I'm working on now which got me Dan Brown. Not sure how I feel about any of the answers. I was kind of hoping for Salinger.

Every time I submitted something of mine, I got someone different! This included Stephen King and Dan Brown, among others. Strange.

It told me I write like J.D. Salinger! LOVE IT! I love his writing style so I guess he's rubbed off on me over the years.

Sorry about the above post! I was trying to use that as writing sample to be analyzed, but was not paying attention to what I was doing. Maybe I am not a multi tasker... I used a few different samples and kept getting David Foster Wallace and Kurt Vonnegut once or twice.

I used this to analyze just a few things. Got different results nearly every time. I got a few Dan Brown, as well.
