Fitbit Force Skin Irritation Refund

Fitbit Recalls All Force Activity Trackers — How to Get Your Refund

Popular fitness gadget company Fitbit issued a recall this week of its latest activity tracker, the Fitbit Force, citing user reports of skin irritation. Though James Park, Fitbit cofounder and CEO, notes that only 1.7 percent of Force users have reported any physical reactions to wearing the device, the company has stopped selling Force and is now conducting a voluntary recall of the product.

While the Force first hit store shelves in October 2013, it was earlier this year in January that the Force started to make headlines as customers noticed rashes appearing on their wrists under the tracker. Independent tests performed by Fitbit have not noted any battery or electrical issues that can be blamed for the reactions. "Some users," Fitbit states, "may be reacting to the nickel present in the surgical grade stainless steel used in the device."

For those who don't want to take the chance of their skin developing a reaction to the Force, Fitbit has created a web page to process all refunds and offers a customer hotline: 888-656-6381. Once customers have returned the Fitbit Force return kit, a reimbursement check for the $130 cost of the tracker will be sent in two to six weeks.
