Geeky Things I Love: Flight Trackers

Sure, in-flight WiFi may make us all feel like we're living in the future (hurry up, JetBlue!), but there's another plane-centric technology that I adore — especially right now. I'm waiting for my BFF to arrive in California from the East Coast and have been following her cross-country flight on a flight tracker.

I'm partial to Apple's Flight Tracker widget on the dashboard, but most airlines also offer a detailed map view of what the plane is flying over, how high the plane is flying, and what time the flight will arrive at its destination. I can't help continually refreshing the widget and getting more and more excited as the plane gets closer.

I love them too! While I'm on a plane I usually leave the seatback tv on the map channel, for some reason I find it more interesting than tv shows :)
