Google Launches Latitude For Friends, Updates G1 Software

Let's take Gmail out of the spotlight for a minute and focus on some new Google features! Google has just released a software update for the T-Mobile G1, which will fix some bugs and offer a new service called Google Latitude. Google Latitude, the location-based friend software, can be used on your G1 and/or installed as a widget on your iGoogle page. With this feature, your friends will be able to see exactly where you are, and you can even change status updates, etc. Google assures users that you will have total control over your privacy settings, so you don't have to worry about stalkers knowing your whereabouts 24/7.

Sounds a bit like Loopt for the iPhone. I'm sure it is much cooler as it is made by Google :-)
