Google Offers: Google's Deals Competitor

Late last year, Google failed to entice Groupon with a multi-billion dollar buyout, and apparently the big thumbs down prompted the company to put their own deals site plans into overdrive. In documents obtained by Mashable, Google will soon launch Google Offers, a daily deal site that will presumably use Google Checkout to purchase discounts for businesses and services.

Google is already reaching out to businesses for offers and will have its own writing team to draft the deals, although there's no sign of when Google Offers will launch. If you feel the need to shop, though, you can always get awesome local discounts through FreshGuide, which is fully operational in several US markets now!
