Update: This Thanksgiving was one that Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton will remember forever. Dench, the grandma who accidentally invited over Hinton for Thanksgiving, fulfilled her promise by saving him a plate and seat at the table. They greeted each other with a hug and spent the day eating and talking over dinner. Both of them are grateful [1]

Original story: When Jamal Hinton received a text message invite from someone claiming to be his grandmother, he wasn't sure what to believe. To make sure the person had the correct phone number, Jamal asked for a picture and what transpired is both hilarious and heartwarming.

After receiving a selfie from his "grandmother," Jamal was sure the woman had the wrong number. "You not my grandma," he replied, before spontaneously asking if he could still "get a plate" for Thanksgiving. What the sweet grandma said in response proved she has a heart of gold.

"Of course you can. That's what grandma's do...feed every one," she wrote. For now, Hinton plans on still going to the grandma's house for Thanksgiving, he told POPSUGAR. The family members of the grandma are letting Hinton know more details.

Both Hinton and the grandma, Wanda Dench, appeared on NBC Nightly News and talked about their text message exchange. They both finally met, and now Hinton's entire family is going to Dench's for Thanksgiving dinner! Watch the heartwarming video below, and then keep reading to see the now-viral text messages [4], which have accumulated more than 190,000 retweets and 400,000 "likes."

When a grandmother accidentally texted Jamal Hinton, 17, about Thanksgiving dinner, he responded with his photo and his own text: “You’re not my grandma” – but he also asked if he could have a plate, anyway. “Of course you can,” she responded, “that’s what grandmas do.”

The sweet grandma just wanted to make sure her grandkids knew what time dinner started.

She even sent a photo to prove it was really her.

After realizing her mistake, she still invited him for dinner anyway.

We're so glad Hinton still plans on spending Thanksgiving with them. Too sweet!
