Hipmunk Hotel and Flight Search

Use Hipmunk to Find the Cheapest Flights and Best Hotels

Typically I'm a Bing Travel girl when it comes to searching for and booking flights, but a new startup is vying for my loyalty, and I think I'm a convert! Hipmunk is an extremely simple, smart way to search for the cheapest flights (not to mention its adorable name and mascot). Enter your chosen destination and dates of travel, and Hipmunk returns possible flights in easy-to-read chart format quickly showing price, airline, and timing. And, starting today, Hipmunk has added hotels to its search options, aiming to find great hotels based on your location and "level of excitement." Hotel prices are color-coded to represent what's reasonable in the area you're looking; $300 for a hotel in New York City may be reasonable, but that same amount in Portland could be considered way too pricey.

Hipmunk is a welcome change from the hard-to-navigate, endless list of results offered by most other travel sites. With the addition of hotel searching plus the "hip" premise also implied in its name, it's a great option for weeding out undesirable hotels in undesirable locations. And in addition to hotels, Hipmunk also returns search results from Airbnb, which officially makes this the hippest travel site on the Internet.

And if you're on the go, check out the free Hipmunk iPhone app.

I was about to try Hipmunk, when my friend pointed out that Kayak is superior in so many ways. Hipmunk doesn't even have any of the helpful features that Kayak does. I made sure to save my friends from using the disaster that is Hipmunk!

I like the chart! But I still prefer Kayak. Kayak is not as simple, but it has more options.
