This Portable Photo Printer Is Your Smartphone's New BFF

Mar 19 2014 - 5:13pm

Looking to liberate your photos from your iPhone? Look no further than LifePrint [1], a new wireless photo printer that we're pretty excited about.

This new gadget is looking to reunite people with prints, instead of pixels, with a mobile printer that can produce 30 photos (wirelessly!) on a full charge and a companion app that will allow you to print from anywhere over WiFi or a cellular data connection.

Unlike other mobile photo printers [2], LifePrint is truly social. Through the app, users will be able to share photos from across the globe, and their recipients can print them in about a minute. There are filters, collage creators, borders, and text built into the app, but users will be able to use any photo app of their choosing.

You don't need to tap into any of the social features, either. After a day at the park with friends, send photos to LifePrint, and have prints waiting for you at home. It would also be a great way to hand your wedding guests an instant, personalized favor!

It has an extremely slim profile, at 6.5 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and 1.5 inches thick. At only one and a half pounds, the printer is portable enough to throw into a tote. Both Android and iOS devices are compatible with the LifePrint.

If LifePrint can raise $200K in 30 days, then the photo printer will come to life. You can back the project and snag one for $99 (early bird) or $125 (single pack) in black, white, or black and chrome at Kickstarter [3]. The printer will ship by early 2015 if the campaign is a success.
