the reader uses electronic ink so that it doesn't hurt your eyes to read to long, it's just like reading a book. it also has no backlight so you actually have to be in good lighting to read.

At that price, might as well buy a laptop and watch movies too. That price is outrageous.

The idea of taking it on a trip is great; but, I prefer the feel of paperbacks. :)

I think it's definitely an interesting concept. When I go on long vacations, I tend to bring 2-4 books with me, and this would certainly save the space/weight. Another reason I think it's cool is if you're a passenger in a car at night time, it would be great so you don't irritate your driver with extra lights on in the car. But hopefully the price will come down after it's been out for a while...

I'd rather buy the books, to be honest with you.

Am I the only one who thinks this is purely ridiculous?Paperbacks are at most thirteen dollars. If you're that ashamed of what you're reading, a paper bag book cover can be made in about thirty seconds. Why spend so much money on something so silly? After you pay for the actual device, you still have to buy the books!

Wondering how the brightness is affected if you're outside? Here in AZ with our intense sunlight, sometimes it's really hard to read any electronic screen in the car or by the pool... If it had a feature to compensate for that, I think one of these would definitely be cool, but definitely be frivolous. :) Not a bad thing all the time...

It's really cool, but my only concern has been the screen. I don't know if this happens to everyone else, but I get headaches when I read off a screen for too long. I read real novels to rest my eyes.
