More Single Parents Finding Love Online

When DearSugar asked readers if they would date online, 51 percent said "Yes, why not? I don't want to exclude the possibility of meeting someone online." According to the New York Times, an increased amount of single parents are using online dating as a means to meet new people. Surveys conducted by Mediamark Research show that approximately 397,000 people who are the single parent of a child in their household have used online dating within 30 days. Since most single parents are usually busy juggling work and family duties, it is said that online dating proves to be a beneficial and convenient way to meet potential partners. And who knows, maybe after a successful online meet-n-greet, the happy couple can have an online wedding as well! Source

I've been a single parent for a very long time. I've practically exclusively dated men I've met online. I've had worse or scarier experiences from men I've met in person. YOu gotta use your head, you can't drag out email exchanges either. Its important to go for a coffee very soon after exchanging your first emails and only then will you know if this is a real person or not. Being a single parent, I found this is the only way to let people know up front that I'M A MOM; a hot mom but still I have children. I've met a lot of men who don't want to date single mothers even though they might have children themselves.

This is a nice way to meet people like Geek said since our lives keep getting busier by the minute. I do also see why this is creepy.

Thanks for this post Geek. Good to know the stigma is going away with this. I assume that these people do meet face to face, but you get a start online. I'd be more worried about being drugged by some stranger in a bar.

I know this works for some people, but I would be creeped out to meet people online. I prefer face to face.
