Take a good long look at this image — "Phantom" by Peter Lik [1] — because it's worth an astounding amount of money. This photo of Antelope Canyon in Arizona was sold for a record-breaking $6.5 million in November, making it the most expensive photograph ever. The private collector who bought it is apparently a big fan of the Australian photographer, having also acquired the works "Illusion" for $2.4 million and "Eternal Moods" for $1.1 million. Before this sale, the most expensive photograph was Rhein II [2] by Andreas Gursky, which sold for $4.3 million. Not too shabby.
So what do you think? Is this photo worth the big bucks?
