NASA tweeted new photos of Ceres [1], and the strange bright spot on the dwarf planet has us like WHAT IS HAPPENING DO ALIENS EXIST. But don't call Mulder and Scully just yet. According to NASA [2], this bright area, located in the "mysterious" Occator crater (NASA's official description!), is just sodium carbonate . . . so, you know, salt.
Just in: Bright spot on dwarf planet #Ceres [3] is... sodium carbonate, a salt found on Earth: https://t.co/qHdgIxx1ey [4] pic.twitter.com/tiKQobIcJI [5]

But people aren't buying the official explanation because, aliens, obviously.

Then there's always the Star Wars explanation.
