Is the New Facebook Layout Cramping Your Style?

So I know I already asked you last week if you were concerned with Facebook's new layout and many of you had mixed emotions about the whole thing. Well I was on the fence until I signed into my Facebook account yesterday (for the first time this week) and discovered why people are so up in arms about it. The new layout takes a bit of getting used to and isn't the most intuitive interface; is it just me or did the other one seem a lot cleaner?

Here's what Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg had to say about the changes:

"We realize that change can be difficult though. Many people disliked News Feed at first because it changed their home page and how they shared information. Now it’s one of the most important parts of Facebook. We think the new design can have the same effect. . . "

I'm all about change, and I'm sure I'll adjust to the new design, but how could they re-introduce Beacon with no warning?

i think people need to get over it. it's a website layout.. doesn't make that much of a difference in your life. once you get used to it, it's not that big of a deal at all.

I love the new facebook - so much cleaner and simpler than the old one. And I don't have to screen down for ages to get to someone's wall...

it's cleaner and simpler to me so i'm not sure why everyone is upset. you can click tabs to see exactly what you want without wading through tuns of crap. you can separate and categorize. who doesn't like that? i love, love, LOVE the new layout.

People will get used to it. When Sugar changed its look a few months ago, tons of people (me, included, i think) complained. Give it a bit. No one will remember what the old interface looked like.

i reallly don't like the new facebook. i've realized i've been going on facebook much less than i usually did. it needs to change back.

Just so everyone knows, you were ALWAYS able to comment on someone's status.

It's really frustrating and difficult to navigate. I hate that the news feed and wall are mixed. I do like how you can comment on somone's status.

I don't like it. I am not to get all in an uproar about a website (I lost respect when they changed it from being all college students) but I cannot FIND ANYTHING. It's so frustrating. I only access it from my blackberry now cause it frustrates me so much!

i really don't like the new facebook. I like the home, but not the view on yours and other people's profile

I don't care; I'm already used to it. Anytime a popular site changes their layout, people are going to get angry. Then they're going to get used to it, and the site will change its layout again. It's a whole cycle.

I cannot believe how much hatred there is towards the new layout! Honestly, I did not like it the first three days and then, after a bit of exploring, I was comfortable again. The kicker is that when I decided to try to switch to the old layout, I was shocked at how messy and retro it looked. I think this is definitely a gall stone issue: this too shall pass.

I definitely like old Facebook, but I suppose I can get used to the new one :/

I still do not have facebook or myspace and I love having no idea what any of you are talking about! ;)

The new Facebook design is brilliant. I is exactly what they needed to do in order to go to the next level. Step back from love of the 'old' facebook and realize that it was a smart decision. Like they say, you can never go home again. Get over it.

I actually love that you can comment on someone's actually puts some meaning to the random "congrats" or feel better posts that I see on my friend's walls - and am left wondering, for what? did I miss something?

I'm not crazy about it. I don't think I understand what Beacon is... *off to investigate*

It's okay. I dislike the actual profile page the most though. The new 'wall' is too cluttered and I hate all the ads. I really think it should be like myspace where you get the choice to use new or old [I prefer the old myspace as well].

It's taking so getting used to. I def wish the news feed and wall were sep, but I guess I'll just have to learn to live with it. I do like the tabs for pics, boxes and such.

I really like it. I really appreciate not having to see everyone's applications when I go to post on their wall. My computer would bog down so badly on some people's pages. Like bethinabox I switched to the new Facebook as soon as it became available. The little yellow box helps went a long way toward making things easier.

I switched to the new one almost immediately, and find very few things confusing or annoying about it. I like the tabs - like others said, it's nice to not have to scroll through a million applications to get to a person's wall. Of course there is room for improvement, and they could definitely make the layout look a little nicer without doing another complete overhaul. But for the most part, I'm perfectly happy with it and don't see why people are making such a huge fuss, aside from people being terrified of changes.

I agree with Candi; the wall+newsfeed combination is the only thing I really don't like, but the "feed filters" help with that. And then there's Beacon, of course, but it can be disabled.

I'm sure it will be fine in the end and I'll get used to it, but for now it's a bit of a pain. It gives me a headache to look at for too long, so I pretty much just log in to see my notifications and log out rather than browsing like I used to.

haha why is this such a big deal? I switched over to it when the option was there weeks ago, and completely forgot about the old one. i can't BELIEVE what a fuss people are making! it's only a website!
