The New iTunes

The New iTunes Promises a Clean Design and Simple UI

Not only has Apple unveiled the iPhone 5, but also, there's an update to iTunes. The new iTunes 10.7 promises a simplified music experience and seamless iCloud updates. Available for free in October, iTunes 10.7 will offer these particularly notable changes:

Music Library

  • Library View: The new library view makes it easier to categorize and view music, TV shows, and movies. While browsing your iTunes collection, you can expand to see track listings for an individual album without moving from the current place in the library.
  • Miniplayer: No need to keep the large iTunes home screen open, as a small toolbar called the Miniplayer controls music, skips to the next song, or searches for something new to play.
  • Up Next: Up Next is a new way to listen to your music; see which songs are playing next and queue songs or albums you want to hear later.

iTunes Store

  • Featured content: Look for a cleaner design on the iTunes store, which will showcase popular music, movies, and TV shows on browser shelves for easier navigation.
  • Preview history: To keep track of searches, your preview history displays all the music, movies, and TV shows you've sampled. The iCloud remembers preview history across all your devices. Best part? You can now preview 90-second clips of songs while continuing to browse the store.

iCloud

  • Hassle-free synching: All your iTunes account purchases are accessible via iCloud on any of your other Apple devices or programs. The new iTunes will have hassle-free integrations — automatically putting all your purchases into your library — regardless of the device content was purchased on.
  • Better memory: No matter the device, iCloud now remembers where you left off in your favorite movies or shows.

What are you most excited for in the upcoming desktop iTunes update?
