Organize Your Library With Delicious Monster Library

Geek Tip: Organize Your Library With Delicious Monster

So lets say you have a trillion books that you've been collecting over the years (well, maybe not a trillion). Wouldn't it be great if you could have a virtual library where you can categorize, get recommendations for similar reads, sell your goods on Amazon, and even check out books to your friends — complete with a handy reminder of when to start pestering them to take their books back? It would be awesome, right?

Well, Delicious Monster has arrived to fulfill all of the above criteria. Using your Macs built-in iSight or a Bluetooth scanner, simply scan the bar code on the back of your books, and Delicious Monster will start creating your very own virtual library. To find out more, just

Even better, you can scan DVD's, CD's, and video games into your library for your friends to borrow, for you to sell, or even just to gaze at your abundance. Plus, since Delicious' Library is made just for the Mac users in the house, it's pretty darn easy to navigate since it looks just like iTunes. I'm all about organizing and streamlining, so this is perfect for me and all my pounds of paperbacks and jewel cases!

This thing is so fun to use, especially when it speaks the title. If you scan Harry Potter, it will say the title and then whisper in a creepy voice "Voldemort". It's easier if you have an external video camera to scan with. The iSight camera isn't very clear and it takes a few tries to get a scan. A normal camera it gets it immediately.

I'd use it if they offered it for the PC too! If it can interface with your mobile phone, it would be even better. So when you find yourself confronted by a DVD/CD/book sale you can check your collection first before buying - I have had duplicate copies from not remembering if I have a certain title.

This would be cool if it was offered for a PC too, but they obviously have no plans to do so..... That's really unfortunate.

ooh! i have this too - i've had it for a few years now and just love it! i have my dvd collection, books and video games on it. i like that i can browse my movies and put some that i am thinking of watching on a "shelf" and then decide from those which to watch next. i also like to have a "shelf" of books i want to read next from the ones i own. i got rid of all my dvd cases 2 years ago so this works well for "browsing" to see what i have in my collection.

We use this for our DVD collection and "check them out" to friends and family like a free video rental store ;-) We haven't lost one since we started using it.
